Home Chores – We connect a CAUSEWAY volunteer with a person who has simple home chores throughout the year…these are a few examples of the types of chores a volunteer could help with:

  • Window washing, changing out storm windows
  • Raking leaves, snow shoveling or treating for ice
  • Cleaning out a gutter
  • Weeding a flower bed
  • Trimming a small tree or bush with a hand pruner
  • Fixing a leaky faucet or toilet
  • Changing light bulbs
  • Small home repairs
  • Caulking a tub
  • Painting a room
  • Helping to assemble items

Visits or Outings – We connect a CAUSEWAY volunteer with a person who would like a volunteer to come to their home for a visit.  During a visit they could…

  • Talk on the phone
  • Visit about family, friends or community events

  • Do some baking or cooking

Criteria for Services:

CAUSEWAY services are currently available for any recipient within La Crosse County who meets the following criteria:

  1. Individuals with a secure background check will be eligible for services
  2. Individual over the age of 60 are considered within the older individual/Elderly range
  3. Individual with qualifying doctor determined disability over the age of 18 are considered within the service range
  4. Individual diagnosed with cancer over the age of 18 are considered within the service range
  5. Individuals who live in La Crosse County are eligible.  Residence can be a home, apartment, assisted living facility, group home, nursing home or under the care of another person, be it family or friend.

Causeway Caregivers Does Not Provide the Following Services:

  • Mowing or Trimming Grass
  • Help Packing, or Moving by Transporting Items from former to new locale
  • Certain Electrical, Plumbing or Heat/AC Repairs
  • Light Housekeeping
